A busy day for the juniors yesterday as both the girls and the boys played Highland District U14's as part of the district's preparation for the inter district tournament.

The girls were first up at Elgin Academy and due to unavailability of players we only had 9 but the district kindly loaned us a goalkeeper and outfield player. This was the first time our girls had played together as a team and for some it was their first 11 a side game on a full pitch. Our girls found it difficult at first and were constantly under pressure but as the game progressed we started to get more into it, winning some penalty corners and almost scoring right at the very end. At the end though the more experienced district side came out on top winning comfortably.

It was then through to Inverness where this time we only had 7 boys available so again the district provided us with some players. This time it was our older and more experienced boys that controlled large parts of the game and scored some good goals. They were able to integrate the district players into our setup and by the end it looked as though they had been playing together for more than just one game. The district team kept going right to the end but couldn't break down our defence so this time it was Quasar that came out as the winners.

Thanks to Pam for coaching the girls and Heather for umpiring the girls game. Also thanks to all the district players who played for us in both matches and for the parents who made the trip to Inverness.

Good luck to the district teams in the tournament and a special mention for Briony, Catherine and Liam who will be representing Quasar.

Tonight was the last in our series of matches against the U11 and U13 Gordonstoun boys. Our U11 mixed team played well in a very close match which they ended up winning 2-0. Unfortunately our U13 mixed team lost their match 7-0 but they fought hard throughout the game against a physically stronger team and the result does not reflect the effort they put in.

Thanks to Millie, Holly and Morven for coaching our teams.
