About Us

Quasar Hockey Club was first formed in August 1995, with six primary school pupils from Kinloss Primary School, after it was discovered that many talented young players did not have the opportunity to play hockey, in Moray, once they reached secondary school. That year, numbers swelled and the Club won the U14 Scottish Cup. This led to many more successes at youth level and an increasing number of players joining the Club over the next 7 years.

The Quasar men were the first to make a mark at senior level, progressing through the leagues, till eventual promotion to National League status, the pinnacle being National League 2. In the meantime, Quasar HC merged with Moray Ladies HC in 2001. This bold move by both clubs made Quasar HC the largest, most northern club in Scotland, at the time.

Since then, the inevitable movement of players to pastures new almost caused the Club to fold in 2010/2011, when only eight members were registered. In response, a massive recruitment drive was undertaken around the local communities of Moray and its schools. The efforts were so successful that the Club now boasts a membership of over 30 ladies, 13 of whom are Under 18. Currently, the Club has a ladies’ team playing in North District Ladies League Division 1 and North District Ladies Indoor Division 1 and 2,a Youth Team (U18), as well as a growing primary school group. There are also plans to reinstate an men’s outdoor team in the future. The Club runs without the support of sponsors and is almost totally self-financing.

Our aims

The Club shares a backbone of experience and encourages all players, of all abilities and ages, to try hockey, maybe take it up, and certainly to develop their skills and abilities, to be the best that they can be.
